Faculty Compensation

For you as an instructor a Liberal Arts Studies course offers a creative opportunity to teach subject matter that is not normally part of your course rotation, or to experiment with interdisciplinary dimensions of your discipline, or to try out innovative teaching methods. Instructors regularly comment on how Liberal Arts Studies students provide a stimulating and rewarding teaching experience.

Liberal Arts Studies instructors are full-time faculty at Wake Forest University. Instructors teach our courses in addition to their normal teaching load with additional compensation paid at the college’s adjunct instructor rate over the duration of the term. All faculty sending proposals for Liberal Arts Studies must ask their department chair to email Dean Frank with the chair’s explicit approval for teaching a Liberal Arts Studies course. Faculty may not teach in Liberal Arts Studies during a semester in which they have a course reduction either for research leave or for administrative duties.
